The Ogun state governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun yesterday cancelled all official engagements to join security agencies in search of former education minister and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo.
Anisulowo was on Wednesday evening kidnapped by suspected abductors from her farm at Imasayi, in Yewa South local government area of Ogun state.
The governor, who had set out for the search as early as 8.00am and joined by the combined team of the Police and other security agencies returned to Abeokuta, the state capital about 5.00pm with no positive result on her whereabouts, but speaking with newsmen at Sawon, Igbogila at the farmstead of the APC chieftain, the governor assured the people of Ogun state that she would be rescued.
Bala Hassan, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in charge of Zone 2 which comprises Lagos and Ogun commands, recalled the arrest of the kidnappers of school children at Ikorodu in Lagos state and gave assurance that Anisulowo’s kidnappers would suffer the same fate.
