Coach Bassey Kehinde James of Immigration basketball club has appealed to the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) and the women basketball league sponsors Zenith Bank to begin an annual pre-league clinic for all league players as part of efforts to improve their basketball techniques.
Bassey, who was part of the league from inception in 2005 with the Nigeria Immigration basketball team, noted that though the game is faster today, it lacks some basic techniques that require the intervention of the NBBF and sponsors to address.
“I would like the NBBF and the sponsor to look into setting up clinics, at least two months before the commencement of the season in order for some of the older players to impact some knowledge into the younger players.
Bassey however commended NBBF and Zenith Bank for impacting positively on women basketball players in Nigeria, and urged the two bodies to continue the harmonious relationship for the betterment of the game.
“I want to thank Zenith Bank for the good they have done to many Nigeria women basketball players, as their coming on board the NBBF women league in the last twelve seasons has had great impact on the league and the players,” Bassey said.
