Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were visitors at the headquarters of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in Lagos on Friday, it was learnt.
The anti-graft officials reportedly quizzed the Managing Director of the agency, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam and some managers.
Daily Trust reliably gathered that the general manager, procurement, Olumuyiwa Adegorite and general manager, finance, Nurudeen Segun Agbolade, were also quizzed for hours.
Investigations revealed that the EFCC personnel arrived at the agency few minutes to 12 noon when the managing director was said to be heading to a meeting with the human resources department.
The EFCC officials did not leave until around 5:00 pm, it was gathered.
Our correspondent also learnt that the EFCC visit was precipitated by a petition allegedly written by some aggrieved union leaders in the agency.
They were reportedly quizzed in respect of some shady contract awards running to billions of naira, including the contract for the total radar coverage of Nigeria otherwise known as TRACON.
A source at the agency told Daily Trust that the aggrieved leaders wrote the petition because their person “was not in charge,” saying the managing director and the managers would be vindicated.
It was learnt that an official at the account section whose name could not be ascertained as at press time must have been whisked away.
EFCC head of media and publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren confirmed to our correspondent that there was an operation at the agency.
However, he didn’t confirm whether any arrest was made, saying, “Let me not speculate but I can confirm that definitely our people were there.”
