The Oyo/Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, says it intercepted a total of N468.706 worth of contraband cargoes from smugglers in the last 17 days.
Top on the list of items seized included but not limited to bags of rice, used tyres, cloths as well as cannabis sativa.
Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja, made this disclosure on Monday while addressing newsmen on the achievement of his command in the last 17 days.
He recalled that the sum of N2.049 was generated as revenue between 1st February–27th February 2025, and that the sum of N165.4 million was also recorded for the anti-smuggling activities during this same period.
“I am pleased to inform you that, within the last 17 days after the command’s maiden press briefing under my distinguished leadership, the command has once again recorded a significant seizure of foreign parboiled rice, cannabis sativa, used tyres, used clothes, used shoes and used compressors with a duty paid value of N468.706.”
