The President of Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih, has revealed plans to organize national badminton tournaments in 2025.
Orbih said the focus of the current board is the continuous development of the sport in Nigeria and providing athletes with more opportunities to compete.
“In 2025, we will see more national tournaments for Nigerian badminton players to create more competitive platforms for our athletes and allow them to improve their skills and prepare for international competitions. The aim is to build a stronger, more dynamic badminton community in Nigeria,” he said while speaking to our correspondent in Ilorin.
According to him, Nigeria is on the right track with its continued dominance in African badminton.

“Our players are excelling in their respective categories across Africa. We are on the right path, and with the organisation of more national tournaments, we will continue to strengthen the foundation of badminton in the country.
“One of our main objectives is to qualify more players for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. We are focused on developing our athletes and providing them with the tools they need to compete on the world stage. The upcoming tournaments will play a vital role in helping us reach this goal”, he said.
Orbih added that “the journey has just begun. We will continue to invest in our players, and through the planned tournaments, we are confident that Nigerian badminton will continue to grow and compete at the highest levels.”
