The Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), in collaboration with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), has developed new 35 National Occupational Standards (NOS) to tackle the digital skills gaps and shape the future of ICT education in Nigeria.
The Registrar of Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, Muhammed Bello Aliyu, stated this during a three-day validation workshop on NOS in ICT in Abuja.
He said these digital skills would enable entrepreneurial development, job creation, employment and national development.
He revealed that CPN has been granted the status of an awarding body by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for all Information and Communication Technology-related skills under the Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

He said candidates who would be trained using the National Occupational Standards would be able to work to develop the local economy, and be available to outsourced opportunities.
The Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris Mohammad Bugaje, represented by Dr Musa Hatim Koko, Director of Curriculum, NBTE, commended the registrar of the council for providing the platform for this wonderful initiative.
