Kano to partner FAAN for perishable product exportation

Kano State has expressed readiness to partner with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to enhance the exportation of perishable agricultural products through air cargo.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed his commitment to the initiative, which aims to reduce post-harvest losses by improving the transportation of farm produce to neighbouring states, African countries, and global markets.

Governor Yusuf spoke when he hosted a delegation of cargo management services from FAAN at the Government House in Kano on Thursday.

He said the initiative would also reduce security risks associated with road transport of agricultural products.

FAAN’s General Manager, Mrs Alao Mamman Rekiya, said the collaboration would encourage farmers to improve production quality while making Kano a more economically viable hub.

The project is set to commence in the first quarter of 2025, and an inter-agency committee will be established to oversee its development.
