Ikorodu City have expressed determination to bounce back to winning ways as they prepare to host the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) table toppers, Remo Stars, in the much anticipated Southwest derby on Sunday.
The Lagos based side who are presently on the 4th position lost to Bayelsa United, 1-0, during their last league match at the Samson Siasia stadium, are keen to extend its home win record.
Speaking with Daily Trust, the club’s gaffer Nurudeen Aweroro attributed their lost to Bayelsa United to lack of concentration, assuring that they would bounce back against their regional rivals.
“Definitely, we will win the match against Remo Stars,” he said.

He acknowledged the impact of Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede’ coaching philosophy on his style, appreciating him for the mentorship he enjoyed while serving as one of the assistant coaches.
“The head coach of Ramos Stars has been a wonderful head coach to me. Whatever I have become today, in the modern football that we are practising now, ‘Ijaball’s school of thought has been the help and opportunity for me,” he said.
The club’s central back, Leonard Ngenge, also said that the match would be survival of the fittest, but expressed confidence that Ikorodu City would nick the maximum points..
“It will be a tough game, but we are looking forward to playing the game and we are in our best shape. We have a very good mindset and we hope for a very good result,” he said.
