NFF, SWAN commit to strengthening partnership for Nigerian football growth

The national executive committee of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Gusau emphasized the pivotal role of journalists as key stakeholders in advancing Nigerian football.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration, open communication, and unity in addressing challenges in the sport, stating, *“The media is critical to our mission of taking Nigerian football to greater heights. We must synergize to implement strategies seamlessly for the benefit of all stakeholders.”

SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin expressed gratitude for the engagement, reaffirming SWAN’s commitment to comprehensive coverage of NFF programs and initiatives. He noted that SWAN would effectively communicate the Federation’s activities and achievements to the public, aligning its efforts with the NFF’s vision. 

The meeting was attended by senior executives from SWAN and the NFF, symbolizing a collective dedication to fostering a strong partnership. Both parties pledged to collaborate in enhancing the profile of football in Nigeria and ensuring its sustained growth and prominence.

In the same vein, the NFF organized its 2024 match commissioners’ seminar (northern conference) on Wednesday at the Asaa Pyramids Hotel, Kaduna. 

Alhaji Babagana Kalli, Chairman of the NFF Match Commissioners’ Appointment Committee, revealed that Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, represented NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau to declare the event open. 

The seminar, led by Professor A. A. Musa Garba from Bayero University, Kano, aimed to re-acquaint match commissioners from the Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), and Nationwide League One (NLO) with the essentials of match reporting, emphasizing its role in resolving controversies.
