The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has fostered collaboration among continental federations in a bid to advance the game of table tennis.
The move to strengthen collaboration among the continental bodies was achieved after the signing of Strategic Quadrennial Agreements (SQA) with the Continental Federations of Africa, Americas, Europe, and Oceania in Chengdu, China.
According to ITTF President Petra Sorling, these agreements marked the progress in unifying the commitment towards advancing table tennis across these regions over the next four years (2025-2028), highlighting the importance of SQA.
He added that the SQA were designed to deepen the working relationship between the ITTF and the Continental Federations, adding it aims to enhance continental events to attract greater participation and visibility and promote grassroots development to nurture the next generation of talent.
“The Strategic Quadrennial Agreements mark a pivotal moment for our global table tennis family. By aligning our efforts and resources with the unique needs and aspirations of each continent and member associations, we can elevate the sport to new heights. These agreements reflect our shared vision for excellence, development and inclusivity in every corner of the world.
“SQA will help to advance commercialisation and professionalisation of table tennis activities, foster sustainability by implementing environmentally conscious practices and promoting long-term viability across all activities, strengthen governance structures for greater efficiency and accountability and expand social responsibility initiatives through table tennis as a tool for positive change,” he said.
