Man docked over assault on 2 police officers

A Kano Magistrate Court sitting in Gyadi Gyadi has remanded a man in prison for allegedly assaulting two police officers during the end hunger protests in August.

During the protests held at Karfi town of Kura LGA, the accused, Aminu bn Ibrahim along with others still at large, allegedly attacked a police station in the area.

While the police were trying to quell the violence, two officers were allegedly assaulted and as a result, Sergeant Hamza Zarewa had his head smashed, while his colleague, Buhari Habibu had a broken leg.

State Prosecuting Counsel, Barrister Abdussalam Dan Mai Daki, charged the suspect with conspiracy to commit crime and attempted homicide to which he pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Alhaji Muhammad Isa, ordered his remand in prison till December 18, pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution.
