Delta Peace cup final: Team Ndokwa to battle Team Itsekiri for glory

The much-anticipated finals of the Delta Ethnic Peace and Unity Football Tournament is set to take center stage, following an intense round of semifinal matches that thrilled fans and showcased the spirit of unity.

At the Ogor Technical College, Ughelli, Team Itsekiri (Ugbomarun FC) edged out Team Isoko (Winsome FC) with a dramatic 4-3 victory on penalties after a goalless draw during regulation time.

In another electrifying encounter at the Oleh Township Stadium, Team Ndokwa (Ndokwa East United FC) defeated Team Urhobo (Udu United FC) 4-2 on penalties after a hard-fought 2-2 draw in regulation time.

With these results, Team Ndokwa will now face Team Itsekiri in the final, while Team Urhobo and Team Isoko will clash in the third-place playoff.

The final and third-place matches are scheduled for Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Baptist High School Field in Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area. Kickoff is at 2:00 PM.

Speaking about the event, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, the tournament initiator and President of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), said, “This tournament has fostered peace, unity, and understanding among the diverse ethnic groups in Delta State. We look forward to an exciting conclusion and encourage everyone to join us.”

A reception to celebrate the tournament’s success and honor contributors will follow at the Africa for Peace Games Village near Osubi Airport in Okpe Local Government Area.
