Apapa command bags trade facilitation awards as Customs honours officers

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has been recognised for its outstanding performance, which highlight the command’s strife  in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and overall excellence.

Comptroller General Customs (CGC),  Wale Adeniyi, while speaking at the ceremony in Abuja over the weekend noted that the awards serve as a testament to the command’s dedication to advancing the NCS’s objectives and its unwavering support for Nigeria’s economic development, while describing the event as “A celebration of excellence that transcended routine achievements,”

Adeniyi said: “It is about exceeding expectations, showing dedication to the country, and demonstrating exceptional commitment to our nation’s interests.

“Today there is  strategic shift in organisational culture, moving beyond the traditional emphasis on punitive measures to recognising exceptional service and celebrating excellence and it springs from our belief that positive reinforcement nurtures a more dynamic, motivated, and high-performing workforce while we continue to strife to fulfill our mandate of trade facilitation and revenue collection.”

Reacting to the awards, the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Port Command, Comptroller Dr. Babatunde Olomu, who also emerged as the Best Customs Area Controller of the Year, attributed the success to his pragmatic leadership, resilience, and inclusive synergies, while  acknowledging the Comptroller-General and the NCS management for recognizing the dedication and sacrifices made by the command over the past year.

“We thank our stakeholders for their high compliance level, which significantly contributed to the N2.1 trillion credited to the command and we assured the CGC of the command’s unwavering commitment to surpassing expectations,” he added.
