Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old man identified as Monday Obakpian, for allegedly raping a 14-year- old girl in the state.
It was gathered that the incident happened at Odo quarters in Ibillo, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect reportedly lured the innocent girl into his room under the guise of sending her on an errand and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The police spokesperson in the state, Moses Yamu, who confirmed the incident, said it took the efforts of a neighbour, who called in the police when he heard the victim screaming from the suspect’s room.
Yamu said the suspect had confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.
