The Village Head of Tunburku in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Malam Ashiru Sharehu, is still in captivity 6 months after his abduction.
Daily Trust reported that the village head was abducted in June while returning from his farm and had remained in captivity since then.
Hussaini Umar, a traditional leader in the community who confirmed the abduction told Daily Trust that the bandits had reached out to the family of the victim for ransom.
“The village Head is still in their (bandits) custody 6 months after his abduction on his way back from farm. His abductors contacted the family with a demand for ransom which the family gave but they are still demanding for more,” he said.
He said the village head is alive but the bandits are refusing to release him.
Umar also disclosed that the wife and son of another village head of Galadimawa are equally in captivity for about four months after they were abducted at their house in the area.
He appealed to the authorities concerned to help rescue the victims and reunite them with their families.
