Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has ordered the immediate arrest of individuals involved in a reprisal attack on a Fulani community following the Mera attack by the Lakurawa terrorist group.

The reprisal was reportedly targeted at Fulani suspected of involvement in the initial Mera attack, where 17 people were killed by Lakurawa terrorists.

Speaking to residents in the affected area, Governor Idris expressed strong disapproval of the retaliatory killings, saying, “I have directed the immediate arrest of those responsible for the unjust killing of innocent Fulani in the name of revenge.”

He stressed that individuals must not take the law into their hands and urged citizens to report suspicious activities to security authorities instead of resorting to jungle justice.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to combating banditry, pledging unwavering support for security agencies to sustain their offensive against criminal elements.

He also warned that anyone serving as an informant to bandits would face severe consequences.
