Two people were killed while a solider and 11 other passengers sustained injuries in an accident near Chikara village, along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.
A witness said the accident happened around 10:40am on Sunday, and involved an 18-seater Hiace bus with registration number GME 919 YX.
He said the bus, which was conveying passengers from Lagos to Kano, summersaulted and crashed into a ditch after one of the back tyres burst.
He said officials of the Abaji unit command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on patrol arrived at the scene and evacuated the two dead bodies and 11 injured passengers including a soldier to the hospital.

An official of the FRSC, who was part of the rescue operation, confirmed the accident which he attributed to tyre burst, over loading/speeding.
He said the two corpses were deposited at Abaji General Hospital’s morgue, while the 11 injured passengers were receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Our reporter, who visited the hospital on Monday, saw four among the injured receiving treatment while a medical officer at the hospital said some of the passengers were treated and discharged. The soldier was said to have been referred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada.
