A resident of Maihula town, Adamu Dauda, disclosed that the kidnappers had contacted the families of the victims, demanding a ransom of N100 million.
Dauda recalled that similar attacks occurred around this time last year when hundreds of kidnappers invaded the area, abducting dozens of farmers and disrupting the harvest season.
He lamented that history appeared to be repeating itself, with the kidnappers once again halting farmers’ efforts to harvest their crops.
Efforts to get a statement from the Taraba State Police Command were unsuccessful, as its spokesman, SP Usman Abdullahi, did not respond to calls, text messages and WhatsApp inquiries from our reporter.
