Ember months: FRSC sets up mobile court for erring drivers

The Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), has set up a mobile court to try erring drivers that violated traffic rules and regulations during the ember months and yuletide period in the state.

The State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Cyril Mathew, disclosed this at a town hall meeting in Benin City to sensitise road users and transport stakeholders in order to keep the roads safer during the ember months period.

He said the court would try erring drivers and sentence traffic offenders accordingly to serve as deterrents to others.

Matthew noted that data from the FRSC, revealed that the highest number of road crashes occurred in urban areas where traffic is denser and the reckless behaviour of drivers such as over speeding and aggressive driving are more pronounced.

“As sector head of operation in Abuja then, we decided that we will record all crashes in Abuja and we discovered that Abuja recorded more accidents than any other state,” he said.
