2 suspected kidnappers arrested in Jos

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers who had on Friday last week, abducted one Nijin John, a resident of Rantiya community of Jos South LGA of the state.

City & Crime had on Friday reported how the police rescued the victim, who was abandoned by his kidnappers following a gun duel with officers in a forest in the area after which the suspects had fled. 

Parading the suspects at the Rantiya police divisional headquarters, the spokesperson of the state command DSP Alabo Alfred, said the fleeing suspects were arrested following the efforts of the DPO, Rantya Division and his officers. He said the suspects were arrested after the phone number that was used to call for the N10, 000 ransom was tracked by the police.

The spokesperson said “The suspects, one Aminu Abdullahi (30) of Gold and Base Rayfield area of Jos South LGA and Suleiman Mohammed (20) of Dutsen Kura Basa LGA were arrested around Gold and Base, on November 5 at about 12:45pm following a diligent search carried out by our team of detectives at Rantya Division. In the course of our investigation, the victim identified Suleiman Mohammed as one of the individuals involved in the kidnaping. 

“During interrogation, Aminu Abdullahi confessed that Suleiman Mohammed had given him money on two separate occasions, amounting to N10,000 and N5,000. Our investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.’’

Speaking at the police division, one of the suspects, Suleman Muhammed, who used knife to threaten the police officers during his arrest, said he held the knife for self-defence and to escape arrest.
