Zenith Bank/Delta Principals’ cup final set, sponsors applaud participants

All is set for the 2024 Zenith Bank/Delta Principals’ Cup final, where a new champion will be crowned as both finalist schools have never reached this stage since the competition’s reintroduction.

The final will take place on Thursday, November 7, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, where Umutu Secondary School, Umutu, will face Ogbomro Grammar School, Ogbomro, Uvwie, for the coveted trophy.

Umutu Secondary School earned their spot in the final with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Utagbe-gbe Government School, Kwale, who will now compete for the third-place trophy.

Meanwhile, Ogbomro Grammar School cruised to the final with an emphatic 3-0 win over Okene M/S/S, Okuokoko, Okpe, setting up a clash with Umutu Secondary School.

Prior to the final, Utagbe-gbe Government School will take on Okene M/S/S for third place at the same venue.

Zenith Bank Plc, the competition’s sponsor, commended all the participating teams and urged the finalists to give their best effort. According to Zenith Bank’s GMD/CEO, Adaora Umeoji OON, every school is a winner, and they are encouraged to work even harder for next year’s competition.

“All the schools and players that took part are all winners and they must take the positives from their experience this year.

“It was a great tournament and as you can see, all the four semifinalists are all new teams which shows the competitive nature of the tournament,” she said.

Also, according to the organisers, Hideaplus, the four teams expected to feature in the third place and final games are expected to arrive in Asaba on Wednesday November 6th in preparation for the matches.

Tony Pemu, CEO Hideaplus said a total of 21 persons are expected from each of the schools.

He added: “We have written them and our preparations are in top gear for a quality final on November 7.”
