The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State has announced a five-point agenda aimed at restoring the party’s reputation and rebuilding its influence in the state.
The newly elected state party chairman, Yusuf Ado Kibiya, outlined the agenda during a press briefing on Monday.
Kibiya highlighted the party’s commitment to reinforcing democratic values, selecting credible leaders, implementing a long-term development plan, addressing state challenges and upholding high standards of discipline.
“We will strengthen the democratic framework within our party to ensure fair and transparent elections where every voice is heard and every vote counts,” Kibiya stated. He emphasised that the PDP will focus on identifying leaders who are committed to integrity and public service.

As part of its development strategy, the PDP plans to engage experts from diverse fields to collaborate on a 10-year development programme for Kano. This initiative, developed with input from Kano residents, will be central to the party’s agenda, Kibiya added.
He stressed that every gubernatorial candidate and other aspirants will be expected to commit to the plan upon election, ensuring that it aligns with the needs and aspirations of Kano’s citizens.
Kibiya also addressed the importance of tackling critical state issues, saying, “We will provide a platform to discuss the challenges facing Kano, including leadership crises, institutional relationships, and pressing social, educational, religious and economic issues.”
