Members of the House of Representatives on Thursday donated N100 million to the families of the victims of recent tanker explosion in Jigawa State.
The donation was made when Speaker Abbas Tajudeen led a delegation of members to sympathise with the people and government of Jigawa State over petrol tanker explosion, which led to the death of 181 persons.
“The house has mandated me, and other members here present to announce a donation of N100 million towards the treatment of those who are in the hospital and to give additional support to the families of those who lost their lives,” the speaker said.
Also, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N40 million and food items to victims of the tanker explosion.

The donation was presented by Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Jigawa State Governor Mallam Umar Namadi expressed gratitude, assuring that the funds would be used to support the victims, some of whom are already recovering in the hospital.
The delegation also visited Rasheed Shekoni Federal University Teaching Hospital to check on those receiving treatment.
