4-year-old girl defiled in Lagos

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of one Waheed Ibrahim (32), who was arraigned for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl.

Ibrahim, a resident of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, appeared before Chief Magistrate E. Kubeinje on a one count of defilement.

The Chief Magistrate, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered his remand in a correctional facility in Lagos.

Kubeinje subsequently adjourned the matter until November 5, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 3 in Igbeju-Lekki, Lagos.

The prosecutor said the suspect defiled the baby by inserting his finger into her private part.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
