The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of 46-year-old man, Comrade Adebayo Olanrewaju Mathew.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Sunday night in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Sources said the deceased had a confrontation with local security personnel.
According to witnesses, the deceased was allegedly assaulted with machetes after a heated argument while walking home.

His assailants reportedly left him severely injured at the scene.
But on Tuesday, police arrested the suspects, who sources said included the community chairman, his two wives, and two local security men.
All the five suspects, it was gathered, have been transferred to the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Ilorin for further investigation.
Spokeswoman for the command, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident but said five male suspects were arrested with no females among them.
She added that the suspects were brought in on Wednesday night and that the investigation would commence immediately.
