Jonathan Arin, a suspected local gun fabricator and resident of Anguwan Rukuba, has explained why he ventured into fabricating locally made guns after graduating from the university.
Arin, who was paraded alongside his accomplices at the state police command on Wednesday, said one of the reasons for his involvement in illegal gun fabrication was his inability to secure a job despite applying for various positions, including with the police, years after graduation.
He said, “After my graduation, I couldn’t secure any job. I became a liability to my father because he was the one feeding me. So, this was disturbing and frustrating.
“Apart from that, there are lots of crimes being witnessed in my community. We had been trying to see how we could end the problem. So, I felt I could contribute to fight the crime. That is why I found myself in the business.”

While parading the suspect alongside his three other collaborators, the state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, narrated how the suspects were arrested.
The commissioner said “On 16/10/2024 at about 7am, while acting upon credible intelligence, the command’s Eagle Eye Patrol Unit (EEPU) arrested one Jonathan Arin (27), one Moses Festus (27), Sambo Audu (30), Nehemiah Yakubu (25), all male of Angwan Rukuba, Jos.
“The suspects were arrested in possession of locally fabricated rifles, pistols and other dangerous tools and equipment used in the fabrication of firearms.’’
