Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring fairness in religious matters, emphasising that no religion will be sidelined under his administration.
He stressed the importance of fostering harmony and unity among different religious groups in the state and pledged to uphold the trust the Muslim community has placed in him.
Oyebanji stated this during a special Juma’ah Service marking his second year in office, held at the Central Mosque, Oja Oba, in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Addressing the congregation, the governor commended Muslim leaders and the faithful for their steadfast support and promised to accelerate development efforts that benefit all segments of society during the remainder of his tenure.

He urged the Muslim community to continue promoting religious tolerance and harmony, which he noted are essential to attracting investment and ensuring the state’s overall progress.
“I am here to thank God and express my gratitude to all Muslims for their unwavering support. I want to assure you that the Muslim members of my cabinet, from the Secretary to the State Government down to the last appointee, have performed excellently in their leadership roles.
“When we last gathered here, I promised that flooding would no longer affect this mosque, and I am grateful to God that we have fulfilled that pledge. Let me also reassure you that whatever is rightfully yours will be granted without struggle,” Oyebanji said.
He also expressed deep appreciation for the support of the Grand Imam and other Muslim leaders, emphasising their crucial role in his administration’s success.
In his sermon, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, President of the League of Imams and Alfas in the Southwest, Edo, and Delta States, cautioned the Muslim faithful against publicly criticising their leaders for any perceived shortcomings.
He encouraged them to offer prayers that would guide their leaders toward honesty, transparency and accountability.
Sheikh Bello, who also serves as the Grand Imam of Ekiti State, thanked Governor Oyebanji for maintaining religious balance in his appointments and for giving Muslims opportunities to contribute to the state’s development.
