The pioneer Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), Benue State, Professor Innocent Ujah, has been suspended over alleged gross misconduct and willful disregard to authority.
Professor Ediga Bede Agbo was immediately appointed as the acting Vice Chancellor of the university.
A statement by James Onogwu, the Coordinator, Information, Publication and Public Relations of the institution on behalf of the Registrar on Monday night, indicated that the decision was taken during the special meeting of the Governing Council held on October, 17, 2024.
The statement noted that the meeting headed by the Pro Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of FUHSO, Engr. Ohieku Muhammed Salami, appointed Prof. Agbo as acting Vice Chancellor of the university.

“The Pro Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council and Members, earlier, during the meeting suspended the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Innocent Ujah, mni, OON, NPOM, for alleged gross misconduct and willful disregard to its authority,” the statement added.
It also stated that the new vice chancellor, a sexagenarian and renowned professor of microbiology, is a native of Otukpo in Benue State.
Prof Agbo, according to the statement, has since assumed duty as the acting Vice Chancellor of FUHSO for a period of six months.
