Bandits have reportedly killed two herders and rustled several cows and sheep at the Kurutu village in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
A community leader from the area, who confirmed the incident to our reporter through telephone on Sunday, said it happened last Thursday around 11:23 am.
He said the bandits, who came in their large numbers from Amana-Dam forest wielding AK-47 rifles, invaded a Fulani settlement and gunned down two herders on the spot.
He said two herders were trying to stop the bandits from rustling the animals, when one the bandits opened fire and killed the two on the spot.
According to him, the animals belonged to one Alhaji Wakili Bala, who had travelled to the Katari market.
He said the remains of the two herders were later buried at the community.
The spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
