100 military widows get lifeline

Support Our Troops, Nigeria (SOT) has extended empowerment support to 100 widows of fallen military officers and their families, providing them with food items and other essential resources during an event held at the Mogadishu Barracks in Abuja.

Mrs. Ojinika Mba-Kalu, the project coordinator, emphasised the importance of this support and empowerment training as a way to honour and recognise the sacrifices made by the fallen military personnel.

She stated that the initiative aims to equip the widows with the resources and support necessary for them to thrive.

Dr. Sa’adatu Adamu, founder of Secure the Future International Initiative and a mental health advocate, addressed the widows, underscoring the significance of mental health.

“Taking care of yourself mentally is not selfishness; it is extremely essential so that you can be mentally healthy to take care of others around you,” she said.

Azumi C. Aprezi, a widow who lost her husband and three children 19 years ago, shared her own struggles but encouraged her fellow widows to persevere while caring for their families.
