Parents of detained #EndBadGovernance protesters demand justice at Kano Assembly

Parents of youths arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protests have stormed the Kano State House of Assembly, pleading for justice.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Malam Nura Ahmad said around 70 youths were arrested and transferred to Abuja, where they are reportedly being mistreated.

Ahmad expressed concern over the inhumane conditions the detainees are facing, stating that since their arrest, none of them had been allowed to bathe or groom themselves, and they are only being fed once a day.

He further lamented that all efforts to secure bail for the detainees had been thwarted, and they have also been denied access to legal representation.

One of the mothers, Fatima Yusuf Umar, shared her distress, recounting the last communication with her son, during which he said he could no longer see properly due to the brutal treatment he was enduring.

In response, the Majority Leader of the State Assembly, who received the parents, assured them that steps would be taken to facilitate bail for the youths.

He also urged the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to intervene and ensure the detainees are granted bail.
