The has pledged to implement a sustainability plan for maternal, infant and young children’s nutrition in the state.
This was confirmed by Mr Duke Lawrence Ogbokor, Senior Technical Advisor for Monitoring and Evaluation at FHI 360, during the organisation’s closeout of the Alive and Thrive project in Yobe.
FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organisation based in the United States.
Mr Ogbokor stated that FHI 360 has been actively supporting the state for three years, focusing on improving nutrition for mothers, infants and young children.

He emphasised that, in collaboration with the Yobe State Government, stakeholders have developed a sustainability plan to ensure the continuation of the progress achieved through the Alive and Thrive initiative.
Mr Ogbokor called on the government and the Ministry of Health to allocate sufficient funds to effectively combat malnutrition and reduce maternal mortality in the state.
Yobe State Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Lawan Gana, represented by Dr Hauwa Larai Goni, Director of Public Health at the ministry, expressed gratitude for the support provided by FHI 360.
He assured that the state is committed to sustaining the project, particularly in the areas of community engagement, sensitisation, advocacy and social mobilisation.
