Six persons on Monday died and five others injured in a road accident in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The crash, which involved a trailer transporting tiles and a lorry loaded with soft drinks, occurred at Oke Eleshin, Amuloko, along the Akanran Road in the Ona Ara Local Government Area.
The accident affected two tricycles, with one of the injured being a school pupil whose mother tragically died in the crash.
Four of the injured were taken to the Amuloko City Hospital, including two primary school children treated as outpatients. Two others with more severe injuries were admitted for further treatment.

The identities of the deceased and the hospital they were taken to remain unconfirmed.
A staff member of the Oyo Road Transport Maintenance Agency (OYRTMA), speaking anonymously, explained that the accident was caused by brake failure on the trailer while descending a slope, leading to a collision with a tricycle (Keke NAPEP).
An eyewitness added that a lorry carrying soft drinks, attempting to avoid hitting the trailer, crashed into another tricycle.
“The accident claimed six lives, and five others were injured. They have been taken away for medical attention,” the eyewitness said.
The incident caused significant traffic disruption, with passengers abandoning vehicles to walk. In addition to the trailer and lorry, two other cars were damaged in the multi-vehicle crash.
Sympathisers expressed frustration, blaming the trailer driver for not swerving into a ditch when the brakes failed. There were attempts to burn the vehicles involved, but these were prevented by security personnel at the scene.
Dr. Raji Wale, Managing Director of Amuloko City Hospital, confirmed that six victims were brought to his facility.
“Two patients have been treated as outpatients and have since been discharged. Two others with severe injuries are receiving further treatment,” he said.
Mrs Rosemary Alo, Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Oyo State Command, also confirmed the incident but noted she was awaiting a detailed report.
