Mob lynches suspected bike thief in FCT

A suspected motorcycle thief has been lynched by an irate mob at Dei-Dei in  the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the FCT.

A witness, Muazu Shehu, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 5:47 pm at Unguwar Yan Bola in the area.

He said the suspect allegedly stole a motorcycle belonging to one Bashiru after inflicting serious injuries on him and escaped.

He said a resident, who saw the suspect quickly raised an alarm, saying the suspect upon discovering that he is being wanted, escaped to Dei Dei village.

“It was after inflicting injuries on the owner of the motorcycle and escaped when some youth at Dei Dei were informed about it. And as nemesis will catch up with him, the suspect was arrested at Unguwar Yan Bola with the bike when mobs descended on him,’ “ he said.

He said the suspect was allegedly killed by the mob who used hard objects on him, even as he said the mob later disappeared before security men arrived the scene.

The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Adeh Josephine, said she would find out about the incident and get back to our reporter.

Recall that two weeks ago, a yet to be identified person allegedly drugged his friend and escaped his motorcycle at a drinking joint at Saburi in the area but she did not up till the time of filling the report late yesterday.
