Buhari sends 10 ex-Ministers on condolence visit to Paulen Tallen

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, mobilized ten members of his former cabinet to take a message of condolence to the former minister of women affairs and social development, Mrs. Paulin Tallen following the death of her son, Richard Adamu Tallen.

In the message as delivered by the former minister of information and national orientation, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the former president, described the deceased as “a gem and a rising star. He has passed away, and it is very saddening.”

He urged the grieving mother and family to take solace and comfort in the outpouring of love and respect from all who admired the late Richard.

The delegation, led by Lai Mohammed was made up of the former ministers of Power, Engineer Abubakar Aliyu, Environment, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi, Power (State) Jedy Agba, Niger Delta, Umana Umana and Industry, Trade and Investment Niyi Adebayo.

The others were the ministers of Youth and Sports,Sunday Dare, Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Transportation Muazu Jaji and Water Resources, Engineer Suleiman Adamu.

Prayers were said for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

Daily Trust had reported how Richard, the only son of Tallen, died on Saturday after being hospitalised at Cedar Crest Hospital in Abuja.

“The cause of his death was not immediately known but he was said to have been placed on oxygen in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Friday night,” the family had said in a statement.

Corroborating the family’s announcement, Vom Old Boys’Association (VOBA), Richard’s alma mater, said he died in Abuja after a brief illness.

“OBITUARY: On a very sad note we regret to announce the sudden passing of our Member, Mr Richard Adamu Tallen,” VOBA wrote on Facebook

“He passed on on Saturday 5th October in Abuja after a brief illness, leaving behind a beloved Family including his Wife & Children.

“Burial arrangements will be announced by the Family. Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord, may perpetual light shine upon him, may the soul of Richard and all departed VOBA RIP. Amen”

A Computer Science graduate from a United States university, the graduate was blessed with a wife and three children.
