The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission says 79 chairmanship candidates have been screened to participate in the forthcoming local government election in the state.
The exercise is slated for October 19, with 79 candidates across 10 political parties vying for chairmanship positions screened.
KAD-SIECOM Commissioner for Public Affairs and Information, Professor Joseph Gambo, disclosed this to Daily Trust on Monday.
According to him, the commission does not have the exact number of those contesting for councilorship positions because there are many candidates and the list is being compiled

Professor Joseph promised that the commission would abide by the election timetable as announced on July 15, 2024.
He stated that the commission had been rigidly following the timetable without missing any activities, noting that the election would be held on October 19, as all planned activities had been implemented according to the timetable.
He also assured all the political parties that KAD-SIECOM would provide an enabling environment for the election to take place.
