Lobi Stars appoint Amokachi new Technical Adviser

A former Super Eagles coach, Daniel Amokachi, has been appointed the new Technical Adviser of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

The decision to appoint the former Super Eagles striker was taken yesterday by the newly constituted board of the club.

A member of the board who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity said it wasn’t a difficult decision to make considering the high pedigree of the 1994 AFCON winner.

He expressed confidence that the former Everton Star will hit the ground running as his tactical acumen is never in doubt.

“Apart from the fact that Amokachi is a son of the soil, he is ably qualified to lead the technical bench of the club. He has the prerequisite knowledge and experience to turn around the fortunes of our darling club.

“We have also accepted his request to come with an assistant coach and a goalkeeper trainer. Therefore, from the former members of the coaching crew, only the assistant coach, Terhemen Akombo, will join the new crew. The rest will have to step aside,” he said.

After five matches, Lobi Stars are occupying the 17th position on the table with four points from a possible 15.

They have recorded one draw, one win and three defeats against Rivers United, Enyimba and Katsina United.

This will be Amokachi’s third stint in the NPFL having coached Nasarawa United in 2007 and Enyimba in 2008.
