A mild drama played out when a man, who allegedly went into a farm in Bar-Bari community, Abaji Area Council of the FCT, to steal yam tubers got trapped.
A resident of the community, Joshua Gwatana, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 5:45pm when the suspect went to the farm and attempted to harvest yams.
He said the owner of the farm met the suspect sitting by some tubers he had already harvested but was unable to move.
He said the owner had earlier raised an alarm over frequent theft of his crops.

He said some youth from the community, on receiving the information, mobilised to the farm and striped the suspect half naked before was handed over to the vigilantes.
Our reporter learnt that due to the frequent produce theft from his farm, the farmer prepared some charms which he hung in the farm, which might have been responsible for the suspect’s inability to leave the scene with the stolen produce.
City & Crime reports that there have been reported cases of farm produce theft, especially maize and yam by suspected hoodlums at rural villages in the FCT.
The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
