Rangers edge Bayelsa United 1-0 in rescheduled match

Enugu Rangers bounced back from the 0-1 defeat at Remo Stars to beat Bayelsa United 1-0 in the rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) week three match played yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Stadium in Enugu.

Recall that after the loss at Remo Stars, a disappointed Rangers coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu harshly condemned the ‘desperate approach’ of his Super Eagles colleague, Daniel Ogunmodede.

Both coaches are assisting the interim manager of the Super Eagles, Austin Eguavoean.

However, Ilechukwu had nothing to complain about in yesterday’s rescheduled match as Isaac Johnson Saviour’s goal in the 70th minute proved enough for Rangers to collect the maximum points at home.

Coached by a former Flying Eagles coach, Ladan Bosso, Bayelsa United who are yet to win a single match in the ongoing season managed to hold their hosts to a barren draw in the first half before the deadlock was finally broken by Saviour.

Rangers, who are the defending champions, opened their 2024/2025 campaign with a 0-0 draw at home against El-kanemi Warriors. They followed up with an away win at Ikorodu United before the defeat at Remo Stars in week four.
