Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a couple identified as Mr and Mrs Inebo and one other in Edo State.
The victims were said to have been kidnapped on Sunday at about 7pm on Fugar axis, Etsako Central LGA of Edo State.
They were alleged to have been kidnapped at a gun point along Fugar-Ekperi road while returning to their village after attending an event and they were whisked into the bush by their abductors.
It was gathered that one of the victims allegedly escaped from captivity in the process of moving them from one location to another, leaving the couple in the kidnappers’ den
A source said police and hunters in the area are currently combing the bush with a view to rescuing the victims.
“They were kidnapped on Sunday but the vigilantes couldn’t go into the bush because of the ban on Edo state Security Network. But hunters are combing the bush now to rescue the victims,” he said.
He told City & Crime that the abductors were yet to make contact with the family of the victims.
When contacted, the state police spokesman, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident.
He said the operatives had been combing the bush since the incident took place to ensure the victims are freed unhurt.
