A Public Affairs Analyst, Deyemi Saka, has described Governor Dauda Lawal’s accusations that his predecessor and Minister of Defence, State, Muhammad Matawalle was behind the insecurity in Zamfara State as mischievous and baseless.
Saka, while fielding questions on insecurity in the North West on a television programme monitored in Lagos said the Governor is playing politics with insecurity.
It would be recalled that Governor Lawal had accused Matawalle of being the brain behind insecurity in the state while asking President Bola Tinubu to sack him.
The Minister had in response denied any ties with banditry and even challenged his predecessor to swear with the Qur’an if he knows nothing about insecurity in the state.

But the public affair analyst said instead of baseless accusations, Matawalle should be commended for spearheading the military operations that got 14 out of 18 bandits terrorising the north West neutralized within a very short time.
Saka, who said that despite the fact that Matawalle is neither a brigade commander nor commanding a troop, had to leverage on the instructions of President Tinubu, who gave him alongside the military Chiefs marching order to decapitate the bandits.
He said, “The claim by Dauda Lawal of his effort to combat insecurity in Zamfara state is based on falsehood. It’s unbecoming of Dauda Lawal to engage in this poor sophistry to demarket Matawalle. The state security he allegedly commissioned recently was put in place by Matawalle during his tenure. Or is he recommissioning a security outfit that has been in place before his inauguration? He asked.
He, however, urged an elderstateman and national security adviser, Gen Aliyu Gusau, rtd, who is from the state and has been widely acclaimed to be the spymaster to talk to call the governor to order in the interest of peace and to engender security and well-being of the people.
Saka maintained that the unprovoked attack against Matawalle by Lawal was meant to spite him and lower his integrity as not fit to occupy the position of federal ministry of defence.
“It’s illogical for Dauda Lawal to think that President Bola Tinubu, who is working hard to free the country of insecurity and associated vices, will keep Matawalle in the ministry of defence if there’s any intelligence to suggest that he’s not doing the right thing.”
