CSO Condemns Plot To Destabilize NFF Leadership

The Civil Society Network for Good Governance (CSNGG), has condemned attempts to discredit the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and remove its General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

Addressing the press, CSNGG National President, Barr. Kamal Adefila on Wednesday, described the plot as “detrimental to the progress of Nigerian football” and a “deliberate attempt to destabilize the NFF and create unnecessary discord within the federation.”

Adefila emphasized that the actions of these faceless individuals are not driven by a desire to improve Nigerian football but rather by self-serving interests. He warned that if they do not desist from their actions, the CSNGG will not hesitate to publicly name and shame them.

He said; “Dr. Sanusi has dedicated himself to Nigerian football for 11 years, spearheading significant reforms that have modernized the administrative processes of the NFF. Under his watch, the NFF has enhanced transparency and made impressive strides in grassroots football development, building a pipeline of talent essential for the future of the game in Nigeria.

“Despite the challenges faced by the NFF—challenges that are not unique to football administration—Dr. Sanusi and his team have remained steadfast and capable in their roles. Any suggestion that his leadership has been ineffective or that he is unfit to continue as General Secretary is false and a blatant attempt to mislead the public for personal gain.”

Adefila urged Nigerians to disregard the falsehoods being circulated, emphasizing that these are deliberate attempts to tarnish the reputation of a man who has worked tirelessly for the betterment of Nigerian football.

“The CSNGG stands firmly in support of Dr. Sanusi and the current NFF leadership. Adefila reminded those behind the plot that the NFF congress is not a political battleground but a platform where stakeholders come together to synthesize ideas and chart a course for Nigerian football’s continued development.

“Attempts to turn it into a venue for political intrigue or personal vendettas will not succeed and will be exposed for what they are.” Adefila added.

The National President of the group however, urged stakeholders to remain focused on the larger goal of bringing back the glory days of Nigerian football through unity, collaboration, and collective determination to support the NFF leadership.
