Nigeria@64: Speaker Abbas, deputy charge Nigerians on patriotism, unity

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajuddeen and his Deputy, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, have called on Nigerians to remain patriotic and united while helping to address the challenges facing the country.

They made the call in separate statements on Monday to celebrate the nation’s 64th independence today.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the speaker congratulated Nigerians as they celebrate the independence anniversary.

Speaker Abbas, who also clocks 59 on October 1, 2024, said Nigeria has many achievements to celebrate since independence, adding that he is optimistic that the country’s future is brighter.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to be more patriotic and pray for their country and their leaders to overcome the current security and socio-economic challenges.

Speaker Abbas also enjoined the citizens to be united and continue to serve their fatherland with passion and dedication.

On his part, the Deputy Speaker, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, congratulated President Tinubu and Nigerians in general on the country’s 64th Independence Day celebration.

He said the country is steadily marching towards greatness and nationhood.

Kalu, however, urged Nigerians not to despair because of the current economic and security challenges bedevilling the country.

The Deputy Speaker assured that the President Tinubu-led APC government is building strong systems through appropriate and deliberate policies and programmes that will catalyze a robust and all-inclusive economy, strengthen the democratic institutions, tackle insecurity and place Nigeria on an enviable pedestal.

He said though the journey may be bumpy, the country is primed to triumph and birth better deliveries that will lift Nigerians from the doldrums of penury, poverty and economic hardship.

The deputy speaker assured that the achievement of economic prosperity for all Nigerians is central in the policy formulation and execution of the present government.

While lauding the enduring spirit of the people, he said Nigeria is a land of possibilities.
