Detectives from the Orile Division, Lagos State Police Command, have arrested a wanted member of an armed robbery gang while on his way for another operation.
While the 23-year- old Theophilus Timothy, was arrested by the patrol officers, his colleague bolted away.
During interrogation, Theophilus admitted that they were actually on their way for an operation around the Coker area of the state when he was arrested.
He was said to have claimed that they had no specific target but was about to embark on random raid of some shops in the area when he was arrested.
He said, “We raid from shop to shop, collecting cash, phones and other valuable from shop owners.”
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest, said the patrol officers of Orile Division on September 23, 2024 at about 11.30pm, intercepted two men on a motorcycle who sped off upon seeing the officers at Coker Express.
He said following a pursuit, the rider, Theophilus Timothy, was arrested while the other suspect escaped.
“Recovered from him are a locally made pistol, two live cartridges and the motorcycle with registration number LUY 81 QM. Investigation is ongoing,” he stated.
