Kano speeds up bridge construction with 24-hour work schedule

The Kano State government has intensified efforts to fast-track the completion of two major interchange bridges in the state capital by implementing a 24-hour work schedule.

The bridges, which are part of a multi-billion-naira project, include a three-layer interchange at Dan’agundi junction and a cloverleaf overpass at Tal’udu roundabout, worth a combined N27 billion.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Marwan Ahmed, explained that the ministry has introduced night shifts to accelerate the project.

He said lighting devices have been installed at the construction sites to facilitate work during nighttime hours.

The commissioner highlighted that the Tal’udu site is currently 40% complete, while the Dan’agundi area has reached 20% completion. He assured the public that both projects are on track for completion in 2025, as originally planned.

To reduce traffic disruptions during construction, he said alternative routes have been created for motorists.

Engr Ahmed urged motorists and residents near the project sites to remain patient and cooperate with the government during the execution of the works.
