Mawlid: Cleric tasks FG, others on welfare of citizens

As the Muslims in Nigeria and across the world celebrate this year’s Mawlid Nabiyyi, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad, the First Aid Group of Young Muslim Congress of Nigeria (Munazzamatu Fitiyanul Islam Abuja) has urged the federal and other tiers of government to prioritise the welfare of the citizenry.

The Director General of the organisation, Sheik Kabiru Ahmad Gusau, gave the charge in Abuja at the mawlid procession, which took place from the Mabushi to the Old Parade Ground, after moving round some designated roads in the FCT.

“We are celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), because he is a blessing to all Muslims in the world. And for anybody who is being given the blessing of Prophet Muhammad has to celebrate it in the public for people to know, that is what he said,” Gusau said.

While commending the present administration for its efforts in tackling the challenges, Sheik Gusau urged the government to look at the situation in the country and do something tangible to ensure that everybody lives in peace and tranquility, especially in terms of security.

He also urged all Nigerians, especially the traditional rulers, to help by telling their people to pray for the development of this country, and for the masses too to do everything in their power to help the government to tackle the challenges and bring development to the country.
