Three suspected bandits were gunned down and three others arrested following a gun duel between soldiers and bandits in a forest in Suleja, Niger State, on the border of the FCT.
A source, who was part of the operation but preferred anonymity, said the operation was carried out on Saturday when troops got information and mobilised to the bandits’ hideouts.
He said that three members of the gang, Halalu, Suleiman and Musa, who were captured, led the troops to a place where three A-K-47 rifles and the sum of N4,079,000 were recovered.
The spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
