The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has appointed Alhaji Moshood Olayide Abas as its new acting chairman following the death of Barrister Isaac Omodewu.
Abas, previously the deputy state chairman, was confirmed by the State Executive Committee during an emergency meeting on Monday at the party’s secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
According to Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare, Abas’s appointment adheres to the party’s constitution, which stipulates that the deputy chairman assumes the role of acting chairman in the event of a vacancy.
A certified pharmacist, Abas has a long political history, beginning in the 1970s with the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) under the mentorship of the late Uncle Bola Ige. His extensive experience includes serving as Executive Chairman of the old Ifeloju Local Government Area and Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board during Senator Abiola Ajimobi’s first term.
