FOMWAN trains girls on spiritual, moral guidance

The Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has trained about 100 girls from across the 16 LGAs of the state on spiritual and moral guidance as part of activities of its Annual Zonal Youth Camp in Ilorin.

Speaking on the topic: “Qur’an as Compass,” the Chief lmam of the Kwara State University, Malete, Prof. Hamzat AbdulRaheem, called on parents to inculcate moral values on their children to make them useful.

He said that the girls were the future mothers, hence that there was the need for them to be enlightened on what was expected of them as good citizens.

He said, “We expect that women in our society should brace up. They should put the fear of Allah in the way they think, behave and act.

“Society expects more from them and they should not disappoint their communities.”

Also speaking, Dr Mahmud Danjuma, a cleric and guest lecturer at the occasion, enjoined the girls to follow the teachings of the Holy Quran as taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Dr Danjuma advised them to apply what was being learnt in their personal lives and also in contributing positively to their communities and the society at large.

He emphasised the role of the Quran in shaping moral values, decision making and leadership.

The cleric further said that the Quran was a compass which provided direction and clarity in a world filled with distractions and uncertainties.

Earlier, the Naibat Amerah of FOMWAN, Hajia Bilikis Modupe Oladimeji, urged the youth to always have a mentor.
