Some students were trapped when a storey building collapsed during a downpour in Ekosodin community, Benin, Edo State.
Ekosodin, which shares boundary with the University of Benin, has a huge student population.
Several persons were said to have sustained injuries following the collapse off the storey building located on Ekhator Street.
It was also learnt that some of the trapped students have been rescued while the search for others still continue.

A students who pleaded anonymity told journalists that the university’s rescue team managed to rescue some of the trapped occupants, though several were severely injured.
He stated that the injured victims were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment while efforts is still ongoing to rescue the remaining trapped victims
The university’s authorities had not released an official statement on the incident as at the time of filling the report.
When the State Fire Service was contacted, an official in the control room, said their men were on ground to help in the rescue operation.
Attempt to get more information from the official who simply identified himself as Sylvester did not yield result.
